The Quiraing is a landslip — still moving, geologically speaking — on the northern end of Skye's Trotternish Ridge. The terrain looks engineered: pinnacles, hidden valleys, and grass-covered plateaus that seem placed rather than formed. It is one of the strangest landscapes in the British Isles, and one of the most photographed; no image quite prepares you for standing inside it.
Made in late May 2023 during my first journey through the Highlands. The Quiraing rewards the early walker: the light changes minute by minute, and the wind moves the cloud across the ridges in ways that no two photographers ever quite see the same.
