Beneath Delicate Arch

Most people photograph Delicate Arch from across the bowl, taking in the whole span. This is taken from directly underneath, looking up to where the two legs of the arch nearly meet overhead.

Photographed June 2003. From here the arch dissolves into pure form — bright sunlit edges against deep shadow, two great masses leaning toward each other against an empty sky. The famous outline is gone; what's left is the rock itself.
