Bellagio sits on the promontory where Lake Como divides into its two southern arms — the "Pearl of the Lake," and a town that has been hosting travelers since at least the eighteenth century. The view south from Bellagio toward Como itself is one of the great prospects of northern Italy: water on both sides, the Alps closing the picture, and a long perspective down toward the lake's industrial end.
Made in late September 2016 during my first journey to Italy. Bellagio is one of those places that fully delivers on its reputation; the photographs come easily here, and the light at the end of the day is generous.
