Framed by crepe myrtle blossoms and green canopy, Tybee Island's black-and-white banded lighthouse rises against a soft, overcast sky. The current tower dates to 1867, rebuilt after Confederate troops burned the original to keep it from Union forces, and it's still an active aid to navigation — one of the oldest in the country.
A stop on a day trip out to the coast from Savannah, the lighthouse framed from below in the small park at its base rather than the more common straight-on shot from the parking lot.
