A taller, more twisted dead tree stands in shallow surf, a second skeletal trunk visible just behind it, the whole scene reflected in the wet sand. No two of the boneyard's dead trees look quite alike — some are bleached nearly white, others still hold their bark — and part of the appeal of walking the beach is how different each one looks depending on how the light and tide happen to hit it.
