The Quiraing is still moving. The whole northern end of the Trotternish Ridge sits on a slow geological landslip — the largest in Britain — that shifts a few millimeters every year. The pinnacles, the hidden valleys, and the strange grass-covered tables of rock are not finished landscape; they are landscape mid-sentence, caught between forces too patient for us to watch directly.
Photographed in late May 2023 from a different vantage along the ridge. The Quiraing is one of those places where moving a hundred yards changes the picture entirely — and where staying in one spot for an hour gives you a dozen images you couldn't have predicted.
