The same steeple, a little later in the evening, lit gold against a deepening blue sky and framed by dark, leafy trees on either side. Blue hour does something to Charleston's church spires that daylight doesn't — the warm interior light spilling through the stained glass turns the whole tower into something closer to a lantern. Taken a few minutes after the first St. Matthew's photograph, once the light had shifted from dusk toward true evening.
