Sculpture, River North

River North, just across the river from the Loop, is the district of galleries, design showrooms and public art that grew up in Chicago's old warehouse blocks. Public sculpture is woven into the streets here, the way it is across the whole city — Chicago has one of the great collections of outdoor art in America, much of it standing free in plazas and at intersections.

Photographed June 2024, in color. The piece anchors the frame against the buildings behind it — art and architecture sharing the same street. The color keeps the material and the city around it in honest balance.
