A second view of the Piazzetta from a different vantage. Sansovino's Library, completed in 1591, was called by Palladio "the most ornate building since antiquity"; the building opposite, the Doge's Palace, is one of the most original works of Gothic architecture anywhere. The two together, facing each other across this small open space, are essentially the high-water mark of Venetian civic ambition.
Made in late September 2016 in black and white during my first time in Venice.
