Skye is roughly fifty miles long and never feels small. The interior is dominated by the Cuillin — the Black Cuillin's jagged volcanic ridge and the Red Cuillin's softer granite domes — and the coastline is cut into peninsulas and sea lochs that turn every drive into a journey of an unexpected length. The weather changes by the quarter hour, and the light with it.
Photographed in late May 2023 during my first time on the island. I came to Skye expecting beauty and found something more particular than that — a place that asks you to slow down and look, and gives back more than it asks.
