The moon setting over the rooftops of Bristol — a frame that depends entirely on being in the right place at the right hour. The city sits in a bowl of low hills along the River Avon, and the western horizon falls toward the Bristol Channel and the open Atlantic beyond it. On a clear night, the moon goes down behind the same coastline that John Cabot, the Cabots' Matthew, and the city's other early ocean traffic departed across.
Made in May 2023 during my first visit to England. Some images take planning; this one took luck and a clear sky.
