The Marshall House's cast-iron double veranda and green shutters glow warmly at dusk, its gold-lettered sign lit above the columned porch. Opened in 1851, it's the oldest continuously operating hotel in Georgia, and it served as a hospital during both the Civil War and a later yellow fever epidemic — history the hotel leans into rather than hides, down to the exposed floorboards inside where surgeons once worked.
