Westminster Bridge, painted the same shade of green as the leather benches in the House of Commons it leads up to, has carried foot and horse and carriage and now bus traffic across the Thames since 1862. It frames Elizabeth Tower in a way nearly every visitor to London eventually photographs — and for good reason. The bridge gives the tower its scale, and the tower gives the bridge its purpose. Photographed in May 2023 during my first trip to the United Kingdom. Some compositions repeat themselves across millions of images for a reason; this is one of them.
