Cast in 1858 and modeled after a fountain shown at that year's New York World's Fair, the white fountain at the north end of Forsyth Park is Savannah's most photographed piece of ironwork. This view catches it mid-spray, jets arcing outward from the upper basin while a robed figure presides from the top tier, the dense tree line behind blurring into a soft green backdrop. Taken on the same June afternoon spent wandering Forsyth Park's paths — the fountain runs continuously, and there was no version of walking past it without stopping for another look.
