The west front of St. Paul's faces Ludgate Hill in two stories of paired Corinthian columns, the whole composition crowned by a pediment carved with the conversion of St. Paul. Wren's design was a deliberate departure from the Gothic tradition; it was meant to feel Roman, classical, and forward-looking, and three hundred years on, it still does. The square outside has been the staging ground for everything from royal weddings to the closing of the Olympic torch relay. Made in May 2023 during my first time in London. The facade is the part of St. Paul's most people pass without photographing — and the part that rewards photography most.
