Colosseum

A third view of the Colosseum, this one focused on its arched exterior. The building has eighty arches on each of its three lower stories — 240 arches in total — and the regularity of the rhythm is one of the things that makes it photographable from almost any angle. The Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian orders are stacked from bottom to top, a textbook of Roman architectural convention built into the same wall.
