Bridge Gate

A single striped boom cuts the frame on a hard diagonal, lower left to upper right, its black-and-white bars beating out a rhythm as they recede toward the top. Everything else is held back: a near-black sky, a pale sliver of cornice and a lamp anchoring the base.

The power is in the restraint — one bold line against a field of empty dark, weight pooled at the bottom so the diagonal seems to lift. It reads less as an object than as a gesture, a stroke laid across the picture.
