A seated mourning figure looks out from atop a tall pedestal, an iron cross grave marker and stone urn arranged in front of her, oaks heavy with moss closing in on all sides. Monuments on this scale mark some of Bonaventure's wealthier nineteenth-century families, built to be seen from a distance down the cemetery's lanes rather than discovered up close.
