At Wrigley Field

Wrigley Field opened in 1914 and is the second-oldest ballpark in the major leagues — home of the Cubs, famous for its hand-turned scoreboard, its ivy-covered outfield walls, and the surrounding neighborhood of Wrigleyville that lives and breathes with the team. It is one of the last ballparks built into a city block rather than set apart from it.

Photographed June 2024. This is the park from the outside — the corner, the marquee, the everyday street life around a hundred-year-old stadium. In black and white it reads less like a sports venue and more like a piece of neighborhood that happens to hold a baseball game inside it.
