The Ponte dell'Accademia is one of only four bridges that cross the Grand Canal — and the only one made of wood. The current bridge was built in 1933 as a temporary replacement for a deteriorating iron one, but the wooden span proved so popular that it was rebuilt to the same design in 1985 and is now considered permanent. From its top, the view down the canal toward the Salute is one of the great Venetian compositions.
Made in late September 2016 during my first time in Venice. The approach to the bridge is almost as photogenic as the view from it.
