Sunlight breaks directly through the canopy in this upward view, backlighting the leaves gold-green and throwing a sharp flare across the bark in the foreground. Late-afternoon light did more for this tree than the flat midday sun had managed earlier — every gap in the canopy suddenly had something happening in it.
