Between the Abbey, the Palace, and the Treasury, the streets of Westminster narrow into a quieter set of corners than the tourist routes suggest. Georgian and Victorian buildings lean toward each other across small lanes; a lamp, a doorway, a wrought-iron rail. The grand monuments of the area get all the photographs, but the in-between spaces hold the daily texture of the place.
Made in May 2023 on a walk between the Abbey and the river. London rewards the photographer who looks down side streets — most of what makes the city itself is found there rather than on its postcards.
