Just upstream from Telford's old bridge, the Morriston gathers itself into a fall — not enormous, but full of energy, the kind of water that has been shaping its stones for far longer than anyone has been there to watch. The surrounding birch and pine give the air a particular green stillness, and on a quiet day the only sound is the river working. Photographed on the same late-May morning in 2023 that brought me to the old bridge above. The Highlands are full of these small wonders — places that don't appear on the maps but ask you, once you find them, to stay a while.
