Small Arch Near Delicate Arch

For every named arch in the park there are dozens of smaller, unnamed ones — openings just punched through a fin of rock where the stone has finally given way. This is one of them, low to the ground and easy to walk past.

Photographed June 2003. Shadowed walls lean in from both sides toward a small bright gap where the sky burns through. Shot from low and close, it's all weight and dark stone with one window of light — the moodiest frame in the set.
