Navy Pier

Navy Pier juts more than half a mile out into Lake Michigan and has been a Chicago fixture since 1916 — built as a shipping and recreation pier, used as a training base in two world wars, and now the most-visited attraction in the Midwest. Its Ferris wheel, modeled on the original built for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, is the landmark you see from the water.
