Rendered in black and white, the Casimir Pulaski Monument rises through a break in the square's oak canopy, its inscription just legible near the base. The monument marks the square named for the Mexican-American War battle and honors the Polish cavalry officer who died leading a charge during the 1779 Siege of Savannah — one of several Revolutionary-era monuments tucked into the city's grid of squares.
