Lines Under a Blanket of Clouds

Two utility poles stand side by side, their crossarms and wires crossing into a tight net of angles against a sky packed edge to edge with small, even clouds — a genuine blanket, tufted and uniform. Bare winter trees silhouette the bottom of the frame, sharp and leafless.

The dense, repetitive cloud texture does most of the work, turning the sky itself into a pattern that rivals the wires for attention. Hardware and weather compete here on equal terms, one geometric and man-made, the other organic and just as regular.
