A second frame from sunrise on Lake Hamilton, in Arkansas's Ouachita Mountains near Hot Springs. The light shifts quickly at dawn — a few minutes' difference changes the color of the water entirely — and this is the same morning seen a beat later or from a slightly different angle.

Photographed in October 2017. There's a window at first light when the lake is completely still and the color is at its richest; the trick is to already be in position when it happens, because it doesn't last.
