Lake Hamilton stretches through the Ouachita Mountains just south of Hot Springs, Arkansas — a reservoir created in 1932 when Carpenter Dam was built across the Ouachita River. It runs long and branching among the wooded hills, with the mountains coming right down to the shoreline in most places. This square composition takes in the lake and its hills as a single balanced frame.

Photographed at Lake Hamilton in 2014. The lake is one I keep coming back to in different years and seasons; each visit gives the same water a different mood.
