Geese at Sunrise, Lake Hamilton

Geese crossing the water at sunrise on Lake Hamilton — that brief moment when birds and light line up and the morning gives you something you didn't plan for. Early autumn brings the geese back through central Arkansas, and the lake at dawn is one of the places they gather.

Photographed at Lake Hamilton in September 2021. You can set up for the light and the water, but the birds are their own decision; this was a matter of being there and ready when they crossed.
