A closer look at a seated marble mourner leaning against a stone cross, her memorial inscription — partly legible — describing someone "missed to brighter worlds" after a death in the 1890s. Figures like this one are common throughout Bonaventure's nineteenth-century sections, part of a broader Victorian tradition of expressive, personal cemetery sculpture that had mostly fallen out of fashion by the twentieth century.
Taken close enough to read the inscription, under the same soft overcast light as the wider view of the same statue.
