A cluster of white marble crosses and family markers sits in dappled shade, a palmetto standing guard at one corner of the plot. Bonaventure's Victorian-era monuments run from the plain to the theatrical, and this modest family section is closer to the rule than the exception — most of the cemetery's four hundred-plus acres are like this rather than the ornate statuary it's known for. Photographed on the same overcast June morning spent walking Bonaventure's lanes end to end.
