Away from the fountain, the park's quieter paths run under oaks just as enormous, their moss-hung limbs arching low enough to touch. A single wooden bench with cast-iron ends sits empty at the edge of the frame — an invitation more than a subject, and a reminder of how much of Forsyth Park is simply shade and a place to sit in it.
This stretch of sidewalk was a detour from the fountain crowd — a few minutes of empty path near the end of the Savannah leg of the trip, before the drive south to Charleston.
